These Art Deco earrings from the 1930s feature a central cultured white pearl surrounded by faceted marcasite stones set in sterling silver. The earrings have a sterling silver wire back. On the back of the earrings there are two hallmarks indicating the piece is sterling silver from Germany.
A cultures pearl is a pearl created by an oyster farmer under controlled conditions, they has a beautiful lustre. Marcasites are actually Pyrite all known as Fools Gold. It was used in jewellery due to it's ability to catch the light, giving a diamond effect.
These beautiful earrings would be perfect for a wedding day, effortless to wear. The pearl is seen to symbolise marital harmony.
